Description

Good reading skills help us navigate daily life, so this course is aimed at those who want to build confidence with understanding the different texts we come across at work and at home. It is a great first step to moving onto an accredited Functional Skills English qualification.

What does the course cover?
We spend a lot of our time reading different texts every day, whether it's an email or a text, an important document at work, or some instructions,the list goes on. Come along and build confidence with understanding and interpreting the different subject matter you are reading. This course covers how to make decisions with the information you have, such as deciding between two job opportunities or planning a holiday, as well as learning when you need more information and which questions to ask.

Who is it suitable for?
This course is suitable for you if you'd like to read more confidently, whether it's work emails, healthcare information or a book for leisure. This course will help you progress onto an accredited Functional Skills English qualification.

How is it completed?
Complete this course by attending sessions at a local community venue or in an online classroom on Microsoft Teams.

How long does it take to complete the course?
Between 3 to 6 weeks.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old living or working in Central Bedfordshire or Bedford Borough.

Location
This workshop is delivered in different community venues across Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough, or in an online classroom on Microsoft Teams.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You can progress onto achieving Functional Skills English Level 1 and 2 qualifications.
