C&G Award In Support In Schools Level 2

This level 2 face to face course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to become an effective school support worker.
You'll attend 13 taught sessions, complete written tasks and e-learning between sessions, and complete a voluntary placement within the school. It's suitable for learners with minimal or no experience in the sector.

What does the qualification cover?
This is an introductory course, aimed at those who wish to start a career in support work in schools, for example as a teaching assistant. You'll start off by understanding the role and value of being a volunteer, and then move on to develop your knowledge around how schools operate; the legislation that must be followed; how children develop and learn and how to support this development in the classroom. Integrated into this qualification is the Level 1 Award in Employability Skills, giving you all the skills needed to support your job searching.

Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for anyone who wishes to work or volunteer in KS1 or above. No experience is needed.

How is it completed?
You'll attend 13, 3-hour sessions, fully participate in all activities, and complete a voluntary placement at the school the course is running at, for a minimum of 3 hours per week. You'll also complete e-learning and written questions as homework.

How long does it take to complete the qualification?
Approximately 5 months.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old, be able to attend all sessions and complete the voluntary placement.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You could progress onto the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, subject to being in the right job role.
