Description

NCFE Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) Level 3

This level 3 work-based qualification prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. During your qualification you will develop your understanding of how play and the environment support child development; the importance of healthy lifestyles and physical well-being; have a good understanding of relevant legislation and how this influences policies and procedures and be able to demonstrate how assessing development affects individual planning.
The qualification is assessed by being observed in the workplace and completing e-learning and written tasks. You need to be working in a suitable role, involved in planning and evaluating activities and be a key worker, for a minimum of 15 hours per week.

This course is delivered by Bedfordshire Employment & Skills Academy, part of Central Bedfordshire Council.

What does the qualification cover?
The knowledge and understanding of babies and young children, aged birth to 7, with applied knowledge in the early years (birth to 5).

Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for those who are working or volunteering for a minimum of 15 hours per week, in an early years setting. You must be a key worker and involved in planning and evaluation.

How is it completed?
By being observed in the workplace and completing e-learning and written tasks. You will need to demonstrate competency in all age groups: 0 - 1 year, 11 months, 2 - 2 years, 11 months, 3 - 5 years.

How long does it take to complete the qualification?
18 months.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old and working or volunteering in an early years setting for a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Location
Independent learning completed online, with remote support from an assessor.

When can I start?
Anytime.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You may be able to move on to the Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner, subject to being in the right job role
