Level 3 Award for Special Educational Needs Coordinators in Early Years Settings
What does the course cover?
You'll develop your knowledge of the SEND code of practice, explore the roles and responsibilities of the SENDCo and deepen your understanding of strategies and techniques that can be used to support both children and families.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is for experienced early years practitioners who are either already working as the setting SENDCo or aspire to achieve this.
How is it completed?
By attending the two-day training delivered by the Central Bedfordshire Council SEND Team, completing research, written tasks, and e-learning as well as reflection on practice.
You should be prepared to allocate 3-4 hours per week on the writing and research elements of the qualification.
How long does it take to complete the course?
3 months.
What are the entry requirements?
You must hold a full and relevant Level 3 early years qualification and be in paid employment within an early years setting for a minimum of 7 hours per week.
Location
Independent learning with support from an assessor and observations at your workplace.
When can I start?
Anytime after attending the two-day SEND training delivered by the Central Bedfordshire Council SEND Team. There are not any dates currently planned for the two-day training, please get in touch to be added to the waiting list.
What can I progress onto after completing?
You may be able to move on to the Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner, subject to being in the right job role
Cost
£395, but may be part or fully-funded by the Central Bedfordshire Council SEND team. Otherwise, payment by instalments can be arranged.
