Description

Join us for these free hands-on math workshops designed to boost your confidence with numbers. There are lots of workshop activities available which are practical and fun - because maths doesn't need to be by the textbook! *Receive a free shopping voucher when you attend some of these courses.*

Sewing Skills for Beginners (3 week course) This course will teach you basic sewing skills to mend holes in clothing and sew on buttons and patches. This course is for beginners, and a needle and thread are provided.

Sew Your Own Draught Excluder (2 week course) Sew your own draught excluder to help keep the heat in your house. No sewing experience is necessary, and the materials are provided for you. You will need material to stuff the casing with.

Origami Paper Crafts (2 hours) This workshop explores the first steps to the art of origami for beginners, making fun shapes with paper (provided).

Making a Macrame Knot Keyring (2 hours) Use coordination and measurements to master the macrame knot and make a keyring - the perfect accessory!

Bingo and Board Games (2 hours) Join the fun playing bingo and board games. Challenge yourself to find the right answers to brain teasers!

Practice Perfect Plaiting (2 hours) This is a hands-on workshop for beginners where you will explore how numeracy can be used to master French plaits and fishtail plaits! Hair dolls are provided.

Build a Bee Hotel (2 hours) Using recycled resources provided, create a lovely habitat from a range of materials to support our bee population!

Make Wildflower Flower Seed Balls (2 hours) Get your 'green fingers' ready to make some seed balls to plant in season and watch your flowers bloom!

Sowing Seeds in Recyclable Plant Pots (2 hours) This workshop is based around planting seeds in creative and sustainable ways, for example in egg boxes, containers and bottles

If you're a more hands on learner, come along to these free creative workshops supporting you to build confidence with numbers. These workshops cover practical activities such as art and crafts, games and puzzles, and horticulture.

Who is it suitable for?
This course is suitable for you if you are looking to grow your confidence with maths and numbers to support your everyday life.

How is it completed?
Complete these courses by attending a workshop at a local community venue or in an online classroom on Microsft Teams.

How long does it take to complete the course?
2 hours per course.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old living or working in Central Bedfordshire or Bedford Borough. *Vouchers are available subject to meeting funding conditions.

Location
This workshop is delivered in different community venues across Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough, or in an online classroom on Microsoft Teams.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You can progress onto our higher level maths courses and start working towards Functional Skills Maths Level 1 and 2 qualifications.
