Understanding finances can be tricky, but feeling confident with money is important for our wellbeing. Learn key skills to take control of your finances.

Cost of Living Support workshop (2 hours)
-know where to find financial information, benefit support and advice

Budgeting and Saving workshop (2 hours)
-plan and manage a budget based on need and priorities
-learn ways to plan and keep track of incoming and outgoing money

Borrowing and Debt workshop (2 hours)
-recognise the concept of saving and borrowing money
-learn about interest rates and APR, and how they affect repayments

Making the Most of your Money workshop (2 hours)
-compare products and bills, like mobile phone contracts
-learn your consumer rights around buying and questions to ask before buying to save money

Become a Savvy Shopper course (4 weeks)
-identify supermarket tricks that make shoppers spend more
-plan shopping lists for food, essentials and gifts
-explore the benefits of bulk buying
-consider other shops like retail outlets for clothes and home items

Cutting Costs in the Kitchen course (4 weeks)
-find low cost, quick and easy recipes
-work out portioning and nutrition
-batch cook, use leftovers and understand food safety
-calculate conversion and ratios to scale recipes

What does the course cover?
Good money skills will set you up for success in managing personal finances and any work-related finance tasks. These courses will help develop your confidence with discounts, budgeting and borrowing, and basic financial literacy.

Who is it suitable for?
This course is suitable for you if you are looking to grow your confidence with maths and numbers to support your everyday life.

How is it completed?
Complete these courses by attending a workshop at a local community venue or in an online classroom on Microsft Teams.

How long does it take to complete the course?
2 hours per workshop and 4 weeks per course.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old living or working in Central Bedfordshire or Bedford Borough. *Vouchers are available subject to meeting funding conditions.

Location
This workshop is delivered in different community venues across Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough, or in an online classroom on Microsoft Teams.

When can I start?

What can I progress onto after completing?
You can progress onto our higher level maths courses and start working towards Functional Skills Maths Level 1 and 2 qualifications.
