Introduction to Working in Early Years Settings
What does the course cover?
You'll learn about the role of the early years practitioner and how early years settings operate.
You'll also undertake practical activities to help you understand how different types of play support a child's development.
In addition, you'll complete a voluntary placement in a nursery or pre-school so that you can get some hands-on experience.
Who is it suitable for?
Anyone wishing to begin a career in early years. No experience is needed.
How is it completed?
You'll attend 6, 2.5-hour taught sessions, fully participate in all activities, and complete your voluntary placement in the nursery for a minimum of 4 hours.
How long does it take to complete the course?
6 weeks.
What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old, be able to attend all taught sessions and complete the voluntary placement.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You could progress onto the Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner, subject to being in the right job role. Alternatively, you may be interested in some of our short Level 2 CPD qualifications.
