Description

Proportions and ratios are essential skills which we use all the time in our professional and personal lives. This course will equip you with practical strategies to help you calculate ingredients for a recipe, home budgeting for the family and making sense of data and numbers at work. It is a great first step for anyone looking to progress onto an accredited Functional Skills maths qualification.

This course is delivered by Bedfordshire Employment & Skills Academy, part of Central Bedfordshire Council.

What does the course cover?
Proportions and ratios can sound a bit daunting, but we actually use these skills all the time. Whether it's portioning up food for the family, amending a recipe for 5 people instead of 6, or reading data from a bar chart at work which can sometimes stump you, this course will help you build the confidence you need to make these tasks in life that little bit easier.

Who is it suitable for?
This course is suitable for you if you want to improve your maths skills to progress onto an accredited Functional Skills maths qualification.

How is it completed?
Complete this course by attending sessions at a local community venue or in an online classroom on Microsoft Teams.

How long does it take to complete the course?
Between 3 to 6 weeks.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old living or working in Central Bedfordshire or Bedford Borough.

Location
This workshops is delivered in different community venues across Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough, or in an online classroom on Microsoft Teams.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You can progress onto achieving Functional Skills Maths Level 1 and 2 qualifications.
