Description

NCFE Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner Level 5

This qualification is designed to support the development of leadership and management skills in early years and the knowledge and skills relating to early years practice. It is suitable for learners already working in the early years sector in a managerial role, as well as learners that may wish to develop their career or increase their understanding through professional development.

The Early Years Senior Practitioner will be a positive role model for the team. Through clear leadership and effective management, the Senior Practitioner will support and promote best practice within legislative requirements to enable quality provision. Working collaboratively with colleagues, other professionals and parents/carers the Senior Practitioner engages and motivates all involved for improved outcomes for babies and children.

This qualification also meets the requirements of the Department for Education's Early Years Educator (EYE) criteria, allowing learners to count towards the statutory staff to child ratio.

Course title

What does the course cover?
The qualification covers many areas including; early years pedagogy and quality environments; supporting care routines; SEND; inclusion and development; leading and managing a team; professional development.

Who is it suitable for?
Anyone working in a leadership or managerial role within an early years setting for at least 15 hours per week.

How is it completed?
By being observed in the workplace, completing e-learning, research and written assignments, as well as reflection on current practice. You will receive support from an assessor throughout your qualification, who will visit the setting to observe practice; carry out professional discussions remotely via Microsoft Teams and will review your written assignments and provide feedback. There are 18 mandatory units in this qualification, all of which need to be completed and signed off by your assessor to confirm your competency. We recommend that between 7-10 hours per week is allocated to the completion of the written assignments.

How long does it take to complete the course?
24 months.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old and working in a suitable role for a minimum of 15 hours per week. Holding a relevant Level 3 qualification is desirable.

Location
Independent learning with support from an assessor and observations at your workplace.

Anytime.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You may wish to move on to any of our short, online qualifications or a relevant degree at university.

Cost
£4,200. You may be eligible for an advanced learner loan. Otherwise, payment by instalments can be arranged.
