Description

The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to become early years educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7. This qualification confirms occupational competence and provides a 'licence to practice' as defined in the EYFS Statutory Framework.

You will learn about the role of the early years educator; typical child development sequences; how development is affected by a special educational needs and how to provide an effective environment for play and learning. In addition, you'll learn about pedagogical approaches and early years theorists, as well as relevant safeguarding and health & safety procedures.

Whilst there is no requirement to be a key worker at the beginning of this Diploma, you must be in a position where you develop into this important early years role.

Learners may find it helpful to have achieved the NCFE Cache Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (or a level 2 qualification that is full and relevant) prior to commencing study at Level 3, and have a minimum of 6-months experience of working in an early years setting.

On completion of this Level 3 Diploma, learners will be able to enter the early years workforce as an Early Years Educator. However, learners will need to hold a suitable Level 2 English qualification in order to count within the staff:child ratio at Level 3, as detailed in the EYFS Statutory Framework.

This qualification is delivered by Bedfordshire Employment & Skills Academy, part of Central Bedfordshire Council.
