This level 2 qualification develops the skills needed to understand mental health conditions that affect children and young people, the legislation and guidance surrounding mental health, risk factors that may affect mental well-being and the impact that mental health concerns may have on young people and others.

What does the course cover?
By building your understanding of children and young people's mental health, this qualification will help you to: Learn the fundamental principles of mental health issues affecting children and young people, including common symptoms and the impact on development. Gain knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices for supporting the mental health of children and young people. Understand the daily challenges faced by children living with mental health conditions and learn strategies to support them effectively. Develop skills and strategies to minimise the risk of mental health issues in children and young people through early intervention and proactive support. Learn about the causes, contributing factors, and diagnostic processes for mental health concerns in children and young people to facilitate timely and accurate identification.

Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for those who want to enhance their understanding of children and young people's mental health. You don't need to be working in a relevant job role or have any prior knowledge or experience.

How is it completed?
This is a short professional qualification, which is completed entirely online. There's no face-to-face contact with your assessor. Instead, you will be uploading evidence to an online learning platform, which will be assessed remotely, and feedback provided.

How long does it take to complete the course?
3 months. It is important that you can commit sufficient time to this qualification, and in order to achieve it, you need to ensure you can allocate 5-7 hours per week (on average) for completing the tasks.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old.

Location
Independent learning completed online, with remote support from an assessor.

When can I start?
Anytime.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You can access any other of our short CPD qualifications, or move on to one of our vocational qualifications, subject to being in the right job role.
