TQUK Certificate in Understanding Autism Level 2

This online qualification provides a detailed understanding of what it's like for an individual to live with autism. You will gain a thorough introduction to autism, covering what is meant by 'autism'. You will explore theories, and diagnosis and investigate, person-centred support, communication, interaction, behaviour, and how you can help support healthy and fulfilled lives.

This course is delivered by Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Academy, part of Central Bedfordshire Council.

What does the qualification cover?
You'll gain an understanding of autism and the principles of supporting autistic individuals. You will: Gain knowledge about the common characteristics of Autism Spectrum Conditions and the processes used for diagnosis. Identify and utilise key sources of information, support, and relevant legislation that aid individuals with autism. Understand the daily challenges faced by individuals with autism and the coping strategies they employ. Learn and apply best practices for creating individualised support plans and inclusive environments for individuals with autism.

Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for anyone who has an interest in supporting individuals who display autistic traits. You don't need to be working in a relevant job role or have any prior knowledge or experience.

How is it completed?
This is a short professional qualification, which is completed entirely online. There's no face-to-face contact with your assessor. Instead, you will be uploading evidence to an online learning platform, which will be assessed remotely, and feedback provided.

How long does it take to complete the qualification?
4 months.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old.

Location
Independent learning completed online, with remote support from an assessor.

When can I start?
Anytime.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You could progress onto the Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism. If you're working in an early years setting, you may wish to consider the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner, Level 3 Early Years Educator, or Level 5 Early Years Senior Practitioner.
