TQUK Certificate in Understanding Autism Level 3

Autism presents in many ways, and the support needs of each individual are unique. This level 3 course will teach you about a range of therapeutic interventions and support available to those with autism and their families. In addition, you will learn about conditions that commonly co-occur with autism and the treatment options available. You will cover the roles and responsibilities relating to safeguarding, and the ways you can assist autistic individuals to lead fulfilling lives.

This course is delivered by Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Academy, part of Central Bedfordshire Council.

What does the qualification cover?
The course will increase your understanding of autism and neurodiversity and provide you with techniques and strategies to best support autistic individuals.You will: Learn the diagnostic criteria and processes, and explore various management strategies, including medical, educational, and therapeutic interventions. Apply evidence-based best practices and understand the importance of person-centred approaches and continuous professional development. Understand key legislation, rights under current laws, and explore various sources of information and support available to individuals with autism and their families. Learn about common behavioural traits, factors influencing behaviour, and strategies for managing challenging behaviours effectively Explore social challenges, promote social inclusion and acceptance, and understand the support systems and resources available to help individuals with Autism to integrate into society.

Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for anyone who is supporting, or wishing to support, autistic individuals, who would like to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of autism. You don't need to be working in a relevant job role or have any prior knowledge or experience.

How is it completed?
This is a short professional qualification, which is completed entirely online. There is no face-to-face contact with your assessor. Instead, you will work through a series of online learning activities and use the information learnt to complete a series of short assignments, which your assessor will assess and feedback.

How long does it take to complete the qualification?
4 months.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old.

Location
Independent learning completed online, with remote support from an assessor.

When can I start?
Anytime.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You can access any other of our short CPD qualifications, or move on to one of our vocational qualifications, subject to being in the right job role
