This level 2 online qualification aims to enhance learners' awareness and understanding challenging behaviour and its impact. It covers recognising early signs of escalating behaviour and understanding relevant legislation and support systems. Learners will also develop strategies to manage incidents of challenging behaviour and provide post-incident support.

This course is delivered by Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Academy, part of Central Bedfordshire Council.

What does the qualification cover?
You'll gain knowledge and skills to allow you to effectively support people with behavioural difficulties. You will learn about different types of challenging behaviour, how to assess it and what avoidance techniques can help to minimise its effects.?You will: Learn to identify early signs that an individual's behaviour may escalate, enabling proactive intervention. Gain knowledge of relevant legislation and the available support systems related to managing behaviour that challenges. Develop strategies and plans to effectively prepare for managing incidents involving challenging behaviour. Understand how to handle situations where an individual is exhibiting challenging behaviour, ensuring safety and de-escalation. Understand your role in offering support and follow-up care after an incident of challenging behaviour, promoting recovery and stability.

Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for anyone who has an interest in supporting people who display challenging behaviours. You don't need to be working in a relevant job role or have any prior knowledge or experience.

How is it completed?
This is a short professional qualification, which is completed entirely online. There's no face-to-face contact with your assessor. Instead, you will be uploading evidence to an online learning platform, which will be assessed remotely, and feedback provided.

How long does it take to complete the qualification?
3 months.

What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old.

Independent learning completed online, with remote support from an assessor.

Anytime.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You can access any other of our short CPD qualifications, or move on to one of our vocational qualifications, subject to being in the right job role
