Description

This Level 2 Technical Specialist Qualification is designed to provide the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to perform specialised roles within a specific occupational area.

This qualification will enable you to build your knowledge of mental health in young children from birth to five years old and the role of the Early Years Practitioner in supporting their mental health and wellbeing. You will gain insight into the importance of mental health for the overall health and wellbeing of children in their early years. Additionally, you will learn about the crucial role of attachment in mental health and wellbeing during these formative years. The course will introduce relevant concepts from neuroscience and highlight the impact of adverse childhood experiences. By the end of the qualification, you will feel more confident in supporting early intervention for mental health and wellbeing in young children.

Entry requirements
Anyone 19+ who is working or volunteering in an early years setting for a minimum of 7 hours per week.

What does the course cover?
1. Recognise mental health concerns in children. 2. Liaise with the childs family, colleagues, and other professionals to support children with mental health concerns. 3. Champion positive mental health in an early years setting for holistic health and wellbeing. 4. Model co-regulation for children.

How is it completed?
This programme is delivered by Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Academy. It is delivered via an e-learning platform, accessible at any time, with regular assessor support.
