What does the course cover?
By the end of the course, learners will be able to: understand the structure and content of the Year 6 English SATs, including reading comprehension, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.; identify effective strategies to support childrens reading, writing, and grammar skills at home; use practical activities and resources to build childrens confidence and motivation in English; recognise common areas where children struggle and learn ways to provide targeted support; develop a personal action plan to help their child prepare positively and calmly for the SATs.
Who is it suitable for?
This course is ideal for parents and carers of children in Year 6 who would like to better understand the English SATs and learn how to support their childs preparation at home. It is especially suitable for those who want practical ideas, guidance, and confidence in helping their child develop reading, writing, and grammar skills in a positive and stress-free way.
How is it completed?
Completed over 4 weeks by attending weekly 2-hour online group sessions led by an English tutor via Microsoft Teams. You'll also be set 1 hour homework each week to complete in between sessions.
What are the entry requirements?
You must be at least 19 years old and live or work in Central Bedfordshire or Bedford Borough.

What can I progress onto after completing?
You could attend the Helping Children with Maths SATs course, or move onto any of our other maths or English courses.
