Description

A Skills Bootcamp is a short, intensive training course designed to equip the participant with the skills and knowledge required by employers to be job ready. Each programme is developed in collaboration with employers and concludes with a guaranteed interview for a genuine job opportunity.

The content of each Skills Bootcamp may vary slightly, as each employer will input into the curriculum content.  

What does the course cover?
Over the course of the skills bootcamp, you will learn how to adapt your communication for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, colleagues, and parents. You will explore how simple activities, such as making playdough, can support childrens development, and gain an understanding of how to promote healthy lifestyles through nutrition and physical activity. The programme will also help you build confidence in key legislation, safeguarding practices, and policies that keep children and staff safe. In addition, you will complete an Emergency Paediatric First Aid course and take part in an interview for a genuine job opportunity.

Entry requirements and who is it suitable for
The early years skills bootcamp is ideal for anyone seeking a career in the early years sector. You must be at least 19 years old and live or work in Central Bedfordshire or Bedford Borough.

How is it completed?
Our Early Years Skills Bootcamps can vary in length, but will usually be delivered over 16 to 18 3-hour sessions, with 1 or 2 sessions to attend each week, and a small amount of self-study homework to complete. You will complete the bootcamp by attending all taught sessions, completing all tasks set, and participating in a 6-hours paediatric first aid course. You will have the opportunity to shadow experienced staff, giving you an insight into what its like to work in an early years setting.

How long does it take to complete?
2-3 months

What can I progress onto?
You could progreess onto a Level 2 or Level 3 early years qualification or apprenticeship through BESA.
