What does the qualification cover?
This qualification provides learners with an understanding of food allergies and intolerances, including the key differences between the two. It covers the 14 major food allergens and helps learners recognise the signs and symptoms of allergic reactions. Learners will also explore the potential impact of anaphylaxis and the appropriate emergency response procedures. The course explains how allergen cross-contamination can occur and outlines practical steps to prevent it. In addition, it covers best practices for safely handling, preparing and serving food, as well as the importance of accurate allergen communication and labelling. Learners will also gain an understanding of the relevant legislation and employer responsibilities relating to allergen management.

How is it completed?
This is a short professional qualification, which is completed entirely online. There is no face-to-face contact with the assessor. Instead, you will be uploading evidence to an online learning platform, which will be assessed remotely by the assessor, and feedback provided.

How long does it take to complete the qualification?
3 months. It is important that you can commit sufficient time to this qualification, and in order to achieve it, you need to ensure you can allocate 5-7 hours per week (on average) for completing the tasks.

What are the entry requirements?
Learners must be at least 19 years old and live or work in Central Bedfordshire or Bedford Borough.

When can I start?
Anytime.
